Publication Ethics and Policy

Asian Journal of Animal Welfare, Ethics and Law (AJAWEL) upholds the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures to prevent publication malpractice. All parties involved in the publication process, including authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher, are expected to adhere to ethical standards as outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) (hyperlink: https://publicationethics.org/).

 

For Authors:

Authors or co-authors are individuals who contribute to the writing of the manuscript and who bear responsibility and accountability for the study. Corresponding author is an author who was assigned to handle communication with the journal editor and serves as the public contact for questions or data requests after publication. All authors have responsibilities:

  1. Authors must have significantly contributed to the research and manuscript preparation. Please refer to the CRediT taxonomy for an explanation of the term and its background;
  2. Authors must ensure that their work is original, properly cited, and has not been published or submitted elsewhere;
  3. Plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, and duplicate publication are strictly prohibited, as described in Plagiarism Policy ;
  4. Authors have reviewed and agreed on the final version of the article before submission;
  5. Authors have agreed on the journal to which your manuscript will be submitted;
  6. Authors are aware of their responsibility and accountability for the content of the manuscript;
  7. Authors are aware that the selected Corresponding Author will handle all communications about the article from submission through the publication process;
  8. Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest and acknowledge funding sources;
  9. Clearly state ethical clearance and informed consent for research involving humans and animals;
  10. Authors must cite relevant, peer-reviewed literature to support the study’s claims. Citations should be accurate and verifiable to maintain scholarly integrity by providing a verifiable Digital Object Identifier (DOI) or a permanent identifier for all citations;
  11. According to our Publication Ethics and Policy, all authors are accountable for any errors, whether unsafe, fraudulent, or in violation of the publishing agreement;
  1. Animal Ethics
  1. Manuscripts involving animal experiments must include a statement confirming that ethical approval was obtained from a recognized ethics committee.
  2. Authors must confirm that animal care and use followed established national and institutional guidelines.

 

  1. For Reviewers:
  1. Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively, fairly, and confidentially.
  2. They must have relevant expertise and disclose any conflict of interest that might affect the impartiality of their review.
  3. Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited and alert editors to any suspected ethical misconduct.
  1. For Editors:
  1. Editors are responsible for deciding which submitted articles should be published based on academic merit and editorial policy.
  2. Editorial decisions must be free from commercial or personal bias.
  3. Editors must ensure a fair and double-blind peer-review process, maintaining confidentiality throughout.
  4. In cases of suspected misconduct, editors will follow COPE flowcharts and take appropriate action, which may include retraction or correction.

  1. The journal is committed to investigating any report of unethical behavior or research misconduct.

Corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern will be issued when necessary to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.
